Planning communications for prestigious private girls’ school, relocating their existing pre-school nursery to a brand new building on the existing school site.

Our Role:
Planning communications to support an application for a brand new pre-school building on residential road, adjacent to the lower and upper schools.
Existing site:
The existing pre-school nursery was situated several hundred metres away on a neighbouring road and no longer fit for purpose
Proposal was to build a brand new pre-school building on the prestigious JAGS school site, on a plot of land that featured an aging staff residence and garden
Backed on to tennis club, with residential buildings opposite and adjacent.
Scheme deliverables:
To build a state of the art, fit for purpose new pre-school building
To increase energy efficiency and environmental standards by ensuring the new scheme met all sustainability standards
Thoughtful floorplans, with access to gardens throughout the building
Garden spaces that included sensory play, wild and formal play areas
Sympathetic design, in keeping with local residential buildings.
Communications undertaken:
Neighbour consultation via letters and meetings
Contact with local amenity groups, such as the Dulwich Society and local landowner Dulwich Estates
Exclusive staff and pupils exhibition during school hours
Parents exhibition attended by school leadership team
Public exhibition to share scheme with local community
Dedicated project website created to share the vision and plans
Feedback loops for the design team
SCI drafted as part of the planning application
Status of scheme:
Planning granted in early 2025.
