Comm Comm is proud to have worked with UCL Estates to secure planning for a new centre of excellence for UK Dementia Research Institute and the Queen Square Institute of Neurology. This new state-of-the-art centre will bring patients, clinicians and researchers together under one roof.

Our Role:
To work alongside UCL Estates to secure planning for a new centre of excellence for the Queen Square Institute of Neurology and UK Dementia Research Institute.
Existing site:
Former Eastman Dental Hospital, Grey’s Inn Road, London
Scheme deliverables:
To create a state-of-the-art centre with brand new expanded facilities
To create an environment that promises to improve understanding and breakthroughs to disabling neurological conditions
Other buildings on site will also provide academic teaching space which will complement the research uses
Close proximity to UCL Neuroscience and Queen’s Square means this incredible concentration of expertise is unparallel worldwide.
Communications undertaken:
Comm Comm developed an exemplar consultation and engagement programme to support the proposed scheme and UCL’s wider reputation within the local community
A range of methods were used to present the project and ensure complex messages were tailored to each audience
Feedback was collated and analysed at key points throughout the consultation phase
Concessions and benefits for neighbours, including the neighbouring Calthorpe Community Garden
Comm Comm produced a short documentary to promote the importance of the project within UCL and beyond the local community.
Status of scheme:
The applications were unanimously approved in September 2019 and construction is nearing completion.
